EEC Council Grants Tariff Exemptions on Seed Potato Imports to Armenia and Kyrgyzstan

The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has decided to implement tariff exemptions by waiving import customs duties for seed potato classified under code 0701 10 000 0 of the EAEU Foreign Trade Nomenclature.

These exemptions apply to potatoes imported in 2025, allowing up to 3,500 tons into the Republic of Armenia and up to 1,790 tons into the Kyrgyz Republic.

"The approved customs and tariff regulation measures will ensure the availability of well-established planting material, promote sustainable yields, and increase self-sufficiency in domestic potato markets," emphasized Vaagn Kazaryan, Director of the EEC Department of Customs Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation.

The tariff exemptions will be granted upon submission of a confirmation issued by the authorized executive body. These specific goods are to be utilized exclusively within each country's territory. The decisions will come into effect ten calendar days after their official publication. Kazaryan reiterated that these measures are vital for enhancing the resilience of local potato supplies.
