05/24/2026, 13:24According to data from the National Statistics Committee for January–March 2026, Kyrgyzstan increased its imports of limestone products by almost a third. Kazakhstan remains the main supplier of these products.
In the first three months of 2026, Kyrgyzstan imported 410,900 tonnes of limestone and limestone flux worth $2.32 million. A year earlier, the volume of supplies stood at 318,200 tonnes, worth $1.81 million. Thus, imports rose by approximately 29% in volume terms and by almost 28% in monetary terms.
Almost the entire volume of supplies came from Kazakhstan. Kyrgyzstan imported 410.7 thousand tonnes of products from this country, worth $2.31 million. Compared with the same period last year, imports rose by approximately 29%.
Uzbekistan also supplied small volumes – 150 tonnes worth $7.3 thousand. However, compared with last year, imports from the neighbouring country fell by approximately 27% in volume terms.
At the same time, Uzbek limestone proved to be more expensive than that from Kazakhstan. The average cost of one tonne of product from Uzbekistan was around $49, whereas from Kazakhstan it was approximately $5.6 per tonne.
