Kyrgyz producers may gain broader access to the Turkish market

A meeting was held in Bishkek between Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Mederbek Tumanov and a Turkish delegation led by Hakki Karabörkül, Director General of the General Directorate of Product Safety and Inspection of the Turkish Ministry of Trade. The talks were held as part of the implementation of a memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries in November 2024.

The main topic of discussion was the harmonisation of product safety and metrology requirements, which will remove barriers and simplify access for Kyrgyz products to the Turkish market. The harmonisation of standards, conformity assessment procedures and accreditation will create more transparent conditions for exports and strengthen confidence in domestic goods.

The parties noted that the unification of requirements will not only ensure consumer protection, but will also stimulate the expansion of Kyrgyzstan's export opportunities, increase supply volumes and strengthen the country's position in international markets.

In addition, joint training, seminars and the exchange of experience in market surveillance were discussed.
