The rouble has strengthened, the dollar remains unchanged: the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan’s weekly exchange rate review

From 18 to 22 May, the dollar exchange rate in Kyrgyzstan remained unchanged at 87.45 som. Meanwhile, the rouble strengthened significantly over the week, whilst the euro and the yuan fluctuated.

According to the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, the official dollar exchange rate remained at 87.4500 som throughout the week. The euro was worth 101.8137 som at the start of the week, falling to 101.6431 som by 22 May, despite some fluctuations in between.

The Russian rouble showed the greatest growth. Whilst its exchange rate stood at 1.1932 som on 18 May, by the end of the week it had risen to 1.2301 som. The Kazakhstani tenge fluctuated only slightly — within a range of 0.1853 to 0.1871 som.

The Chinese yuan remained virtually stable throughout the week, with the exchange rate fluctuating around the 12.85–12.86 som mark.
