11/02/2025, 11:56In the Kara-Kulzhin district of the Osh region, there are plans to build a small hydroelectric power plant with a capacity of 5.4 MW on the Kulun River. The total cost of the project is $5.2 million, of which $2.5 million will be financed by the Azerbaijan-Kyrgyz Development Fund.
The project will create new jobs, strengthen the region's industrial potential, reduce dependence on electricity imports and increase energy security in the south of the country.
The financing decision was taken on 30 October 2025 at the sixth meeting of the Azerbaijan-Kyrgyz Development Fund Council, held in Bishkek and chaired by Elnur Aliyev, First Deputy Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan. The meeting was attended by representatives of the two countries' government agencies, who also discussed a number of additional investment initiatives.
