World leader Apple lost the Central Asian market to Xiaomi and Samsung

In August 2024, Apple became the undisputable leader in the global mobile phone market. According to StatCounter, the company's products occupied 27.6% of the global market. However, competitor Samsung is breathing down its neck, lagging by only 4 percentage points with a share of 23.6%. Closing the top three is the Chinese brand Xiaomi, whose market share amounted to 12%. OPPO and Vivo are also in the top five.

However, the situation in Kyrgyzstan is radically different. Here, the Chinese giant Xiaomi has become the unconditional leader, capturing an impressive 43.26% of the market. Next with a big lag comes Samsung, which took 21.57%. The third line of popularity is held by Apple, even though its share is significantly below the global level. Other brands such as Realme (1.72%) and Google (1.54%) occupy small niches, while 6.24% of the market remained completely unknown.

If you compare it to the data for August 2023, the changes become even more noticeable. Over the year, Xiaomi increased its share by an impressive 4.5%, breaking far ahead. Samsung also slightly strengthened its position (+0.2%), but Apple lost 3.8%, indicating a decline in brand popularity. Such dynamics demonstrate that people in Kyrgyzstan are increasingly opting for more affordable models of smartphones.

Interestingly, the neighbouring countries demonstrate quite other preferences. In Kazakhstan, Apple is the leader, having captured 36.4% of the market, followed by Samsung (23.5%), and Xiaomi rounds out the top three with a share of 18.7%. In Uzbekistan, the competition between Samsung (30.8%) and Xiaomi (29.2%) is almost equal, while Apple occupies only 13.5%. In Turkmenistan, the picture is quite unusual: nearly half of the market (44.95%) belongs to Samsung, whereas Apple is satisfied with only 3.45%, and Xiaomi occupies 33.85%.

In Russia, Apple, Xiaomi and Samsung are in the top three.
