Investors from Israel have become the main buyers of shares and bonds of Kyrgyz companies

Foreign investment in securities of Kyrgyz companies continues to grow rapidly, reflecting the growing global interest in the country's stocks and bonds. According to the Kyrgyz Financial Supervision Authority's data provided to Akchabar, foreign investors invested 20.84 billion KGS in Kyrgyz securities in the first nine months of 2024. Moreover, 3.59 billion KGS were invested in September.

Such dynamics indicates the possibility of setting a new annual record.

In 2023, as “Akchabar” previously wrote, foreign investments in Kyrgyz securities reached a record 26.4 billion KGS, which is 21.7 times more than in 2022. However, given the volume of investments for the first nine months of this year, there is reason to believe that the record will be broken.

The sharp increase in investment volumes was accompanied by a change of leaders among the source countries of capital. In 2022, the total volume of foreign investments in securities of domestic companies amounted to only 450.93 million KGS. The main investments came from Russia (236.4 million KGS), South Korea (64.75 million KGS) and UAE (49.5 million KGS).

By 2023, there was an impressive jump. The volume of investments increased to 22.6 billion KGS. This was mainly due to the UAE, which invested 15.27 billion KGS. Russia also showed a 23.5-fold increase in investments, bringing the volume of investments to 5.55 billion KGS and ranking second.

The first nine months of 2024 not only confirmed the attractiveness of Kyrgyz securities, but also revealed an unexpected leader among foreign investors - Israel. With investments of 13.5 bln KGS, Israel provided 64.8% of all foreign investments in bonds and shares of Kyrgyz issuers this year. In second place was Dubai with investments of 3.7 billion KGS, and the third position was taken by Bashkortostan, where investors invested 1.7 billion KGS.

We would like to add that at the end of last year only 3.5 thousand issues of securities of Kyrgyz issuers were registered in the Unified State Register of Securities in the Kyrgyz Republic. The total issue volume was estimated at 670 bln 473.55 mln KGS, with shares accounting for 79.59%, or their issue was estimated at 533 bln 650.32 mln KGS.
