No more Mercedes or Audi! How much do the most popular cars in Kyrgyzstan cost?

The automotive market in Kyrgyzstan underwent significant changes in 2024. While Mercedes, Audi and BMW used to dominate, trends have now shifted in a different direction. "Akchabar" set out to determine which cars are currently in the highest demand in Kyrgyzstan and analyzed the prices of new and used vehicles from popular brands. Data from Leasing Express helped us in this analysis, which identified the eight most popular brands on the market.

One of the key trends in the 2024 market is the growing interest in hybrid and electric vehicles. This shift is driven by increased economic efficiency and efforts to reduce environmental impact. Additionally, there remains a steady demand for Japanese, Korean and Chinese car brands, thanks to their affordability and competitive pricing.

    Toyota Camry

Used Toyota Camry vehicles in the Kyrgyzstan market are priced between $5,000 and $30,000, depending on the year of manufacture and condition. A brand-new Toyota Camry available in showrooms can be purchased for prices ranging from $48,000 to $51,000. Showrooms offer various configurations, including options for fuel type, color, engine power and additional features such as airbags, multimedia systems, and navigation.

    Honda Fit

Honda Fit vehicles on the secondary market in Kyrgyzstan are priced between $4,000 and $8,000. Most listings feature cars from 2002–2003, predominantly equipped with gasoline engines. Brand-new Honda Fit models are almost unavailable in Kyrgyzstan.

Daewoo Matiz, VAZ (Lada) 2107 and Daewoo Nexia

These vehicles are popular on the secondary market, with prices varying up to $3,000. Known for their affordability and accessibility, they are a preferred choice among car owners seeking budget-friendly options. However, finding new models in the Kyrgyz market is highly unlikely.

    LiXiang L7

The LiXiang L7 is a brand-new vehicle imported from China. This crossover is priced at approximately $50,000 and is gaining increasing interest among buyers looking for new Chinese cars.

    Kia K5

On the secondary market, the Kia K5 is priced up to $25,000 and is often chosen for use as a taxi. Listings for these vehicles frequently include the note "not used as a taxi." At the official Kia showroom in Bishkek, the K5 is available for $38,000 for a model with a 240-horsepower engine.

    Hyundai Sonata

In Bishkek, there is also an official distributor of Hyundai, which asks for $41,400 for its popular Sonata with a 191-horsepower engine and 6,100 RPM. On the secondary market, the Sonata can reach up to $17,000. It's worth noting that this model is also popular among taxi drivers.

It is worth mentioning that in 2024, there is a growing interest in crossovers and SUVs. Although these vehicles did not make it to the top of the most popular models, their demand continues to rise. Crossovers and SUVs offer good off-road capability and versatility, making them ideal for various conditions, including urban and suburban travelling.

According to official statistics, from January to October 2024, Kyrgyzstan imported 112,895 vehicles. The leading supplier countries are China and South Korea, accounting for the majority of imports: over 54,000 vehicles from China and about 33,000 from South Korea. Significant volumes of vehicles also came from the USA, Georgia, Japan, Germany and the United Arab Emirates. Japan supplied over 3,000 vehicles, while Germany contributed more than 2,400. Additionally, there is an observed increase in vehicle imports from Kazakhstan, Canada and Turkey.

It is worth noting that the majority of imported vehicles remain in Kyrgyzstan, with only 1,169 vehicles exported from January to October 2024. The largest share of exports went to Russia (978 vehicles), Uzbekistan (63 vehicles), Turkey (41 vehicles) and other countries.
