Airfield returned to the state in Suzak district after 20 years in private hands

In Suzak district of Jalal-Abad region, a 12.8-hectare plot of land, previously illegally privatised, has been returned to the state. This was reported by the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic.

During its systematic work to identify and return illegally privatised objects, the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic discovered the illegal alienation of strategically important agricultural property.

This concerns an airfield allocated in 1978 to the Suzak inter-agricultural association ‘Plodorodie’ for the aviation servicing of agricultural land. The property was of key importance for the development of the agricultural sector and ensuring food security in the region.

As established by the investigation, during the period of reforms and liquidation of agricultural enterprises, the airfield was transferred to private ownership through corrupt schemes. In particular, in 2003, the head of the Bagyshsky aiyl okmotu, M.Zh., abusing his official position, illegally transferred the land plot to his close relative, M.S., acting contrary to the interests of the state.

As a result of a series of investigative and operational measures, the 12.8-hectare plot of land was returned to municipal ownership.
