The old code has been in use since 1974 and has accompanied the airport for 50 years. The change symbolises a new stage in the development of the airport's infrastructure and its increased international status.
We would also like to clarify the IATA code BSZ.
This code was previously used by a small private airport in Bartletts, Alaska (USA). The airport was located near the village of Egijik, had dirt runways and never accepted regular passenger flights. Moreover, it has been closed and out of operation for many years, since 2008.
Since 11 August 2025, the code BSZ has been officially assigned to Manas International Airport (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan). This decision was made by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and is now used in all global booking and air transport systems.
Thus, today the code BSZ is the code for Manas Airport, and all flights with this designation refer only to Bishkek, not Alaska.
