09/08/2025, 15:27Today, 8 September, with the participation of President Sadyr Zhaparov, two airports, Naryn and Kazarman, were officially opened.
«With the commissioning of the Naryn and Kazarman airports, I would like to emphasise that all airports in Kyrgyzstan have been revived and have begun operating», — said President Sadyr Zhaparov.
Addressing the residents of Naryn, Toguz-Toro District and representatives of the Kyrgyz aviation industry, the head of state noted that the renovated Naryn and Kazarman airports are being opened to develop the Naryn region and Toguz-Toro District and to create amenities for the local population.
He stressed that, given our country's lack of access to the sea, air transport plays a huge role in strengthening ties with other countries around the world.
To this end, Airports of Kyrgyzstan JSC is improving its organisational and management structure, upgrading airport infrastructure throughout the country and expanding its route network.
The President recalled that Talas Airport was put into operation in May last year, and Karakol International Airport opened at the end of last year. Passenger terminals are being built at Osh and Tamchy airports, while the runway at Manas airport is being upgraded and the terminal expanded.
This year also marks a new chapter in the history of Kyrgyzstan's aviation industry: for the first time in the history of independent Kyrgyzstan, construction has begun on a new international airport in Jalal-Abad.
Sadyr Zhaparov noted that the airports built during the Soviet era have never undergone major repairs in all these years. At one time, due to circumstances and a lack of passenger traffic, the number of flights decreased, and in 1999, Naryn Airport ceased operations. Starting today, the official Bishkek-Naryn-Bishkek flight will resume operations.
The head of state emphasised that Naryn and Kazarman airports are transport hubs for mountainous regions. Their operation will greatly contribute to strengthening ties between the residents of Naryn Province and Toguz-Toro District with all citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
«The resumption of operations at these airports will improve the transport infrastructure of mountainous regions and increase their investment attractiveness. It will also create conditions for foreign entrepreneurs and tourists to quickly and conveniently travel to Naryn and Toguz-Toro. I firmly believe that this will bring significant social and economic benefits to this remote region and district», — said the president.
The airports' capacity has been increased to 100 passengers per hour. The terminals are equipped with new passenger service facilities. In addition, special technical equipment has been purchased to maintain the airfields in operational condition.
The head of state noted that all the work carried out at the airports opening today was financed by Kyrgyzstan Airports' own funds. The company allocated a total of 8 billion 175 million soms for the implementation of the above-mentioned large-scale infrastructure projects. Special equipment and facilities worth 3 billion 356 million soms were purchased to improve passenger service infrastructure.
In addition, Kyrgyzstan Airports JSC is replenishing the country's aircraft fleet with new aircraft at its own expense and has allocated 2 billion 385 million soms for the purchase of three Bombardier DASH 8 Q400 aircraft for Asman Airlines.
Next year, it is planned to purchase another Bombardier DASH 8 aircraft, as well as large airliners such as Boeing or Airbus for international flights. The introduction of these aircraft will strengthen the stability and accessibility of domestic flights, and the number of international flights will increase significantly.
The President emphasised that Bombardier DASH 8 aircraft are planned to be used for regular flights between Bishkek and Naryn, and between Bishkek and Kazarmon.
«All of the above-mentioned work has one main goal: to create conditions for a peaceful life, growth, development and advancement for every citizen. By implementing these tasks, we are proving that we are on the path to building a new Kyrgyzstan - a country that is comfortable for citizens, attractive to tourists and open to partners», — he stressed.
The head of state noted that the country's aviation industry is also making confident strides at the international level. He said that the state has reached the final stage of removing Kyrgyzstan from the European Union's ‘blacklist.’ Ahead, on 7 October, a delegation from our Civil Aviation Agency will hold an important meeting with the European Commission in Brussels. After that, in December 2025, the final audit will take place.
«We firmly believe that European skies will reopen to Kyrgyzstan, which have been closed since 2006. This will mean that our country will become accessible to millions of tourists from Europe. Kyrgyzstan will enter a huge market that values clean nature, ancient culture and new destinations», — he said.
He added that on 20 August, an agreement was signed between Kyrgyzstan and the People's Republic of China on a new air route passing through the Naryn region. This airline will begin operating on 30 October. As a result, the distance from Kashgar to all airports in Central Asia will be halved. Kyrgyzstan's transit capabilities will expand significantly, and the country will become a strategic bridge. Today, with the start of construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, the importance of this transport corridor is growing even more.
«With the commissioning of Naryn and Kazarman airports, I would like to emphasise that all airports in Kyrgyzstan have been revived and have begun operating», — said the head of state.
In this regard, he expressed his gratitude to everyone who participated in the implementation of this important project on the path to building a new Kyrgyzstan.
After President Sadyr Zhaparov finished his speech, Manas Samidinov, Chairman of the Board of JSC Airports of Kyrgyzstan, asked him to give permission to open Kazarman Airport online.
The head of state then symbolically cut the ribbon at Naryn Airport, after which he inspected the completed reconstruction work and examined the airport's infrastructure, including the runway, terminal and technical services.
