Kyrgyzstan's GDP will reach 1.5 trillion KGS by the end of the year - Akylbek Zhaparov

According to the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, Prime Minister Akylbek Zhaparov spoke at the international scientific-practical conference “Development of Economic Thought: Research and Solutions”. The Conference was timed to the 100th anniversary of the Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Oblast and the 75th anniversary of Tolobek Kamchybekov, an outstanding Kyrgyz economist. 

In his speech, Zhaparov emphasized the important role of science in developing the country's economy and highlighted Tolobek Kamchybekov's contribution to the formation of economic thought in Kyrgyzstan. He noted that this conference provides an opportunity to discuss pressing economic problems and find innovative solutions.

In his speech, he paid special attention to the economic indicators of Kyrgyzstan, which Zhaparov characterized as a “leap of the leopard”. According to him, the country's GDP growth amounted to 8.7%, and excluding Kumtor - 10.6%. The nominal volume of GDP in 2023 exceeded 1.2 trillion KGS. This figure is expected to reach 1.5 trillion KGS in 2024.

He also noted the strategic importance of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad project and pointed out that 2,000 kilometres of roads had been built over the past three years and the country's industrial sector is experiencing a revival. 

“From a country that did not produce even a nail, we have turned into a country producing automobiles,” Zhaparov noted.
