We intend to follow the example of successful East Asian countries, known as the ‘Asian Tigers’. In the near future, our President will announce a new strategy ‘Economic Miracle 2030’, also called ‘Leap of the Leopard’. This strategy will be the key course for the transformation of our economy over the coming decades, with the goal of reaching a $30bn GDP by 2030. This was announced by the head of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Zhaparov at a gala event marking the 10th anniversary of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund (RKDF).
To achieve this ambitious goal, he said, it is planned to attract significant investments and carry out a large-scale modernisation of Kyrgyzstan's economy. The RKDF will play an important role, focusing on financing projects in priority sectors such as renewable energy, manufacturing clusters, trade and logistics infrastructure and innovations in agriculture.
Akylbek Zhaparov noted that special attention will be paid to the creation of a modern trade and logistics hub and a Kyrgyz-Russian technology park. The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers also emphasised the importance of the RKDF for strengthening Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation and the overall development of the Kyrgyz economy. Since the first loan issued by the Fund in September 2015, the RKDF has financed more than 3.5 thousand projects across the country for a total KGS of over $760 million.
Akylbek Zhaparov highlighted significant achievements over the past year, including GDP growth, increase in state assets and budget, as well as commissioning of new production and social facilities. He drew particular attention to the RCFD's contribution to more than 25 projects to mark the anniversary of the Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Region.
In conclusion, he announced new priorities in the activities of the Fund, expressing confidence that joint efforts will help to achieve the set goals and overcome existing challenges. The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers expressed confidence that the management and staff of the Fund will successfully cope with the tasks aimed at economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Russia, as well as modernisation and development of the economy of the Kyrgyz Republic.
