03/15/2025, 10:10According to data for January 2025, 20 thousand 42 citizens of Kyrgyzstan are studying in higher education institutions of foreign countries. The largest number of Kyrgyz students study in Russia - 8 thousand 811 people, of which 5 thousand 329 study on a free basis, and 3 thousand 482 - on a paid basis.
The second place is occupied by China, where 2 thousand 454 Kyrgyz receive higher education. Next come Turkey (2,82 students), the United States (1,518, of whom 1,173 are studying at universities) and South Korea (912 people).
Among European countries, the largest number of Kyrgyz students is in Germany (604),Hungary (366), Czech Republic (315), France (122) and Austria (149). In the UK and Italy, according to embassy estimates, there are about 200 and 500 students respectively.
In addition, Kyrgyzstani students receive education in such countries as Egypt (150 students, mainly at Al-Azhar University), Saudi Arabia (300), the United Arab Emirates (23), Malaysia (200) and Japan (176).
