Four Kyrgyz companies received international certification with support from UNDP

In Kyrgyzstan, four companies have received ISO 22000 international certification as part of the UNDP project “Trade Facilitation in Central Asia.” This was announced by Emil Yusupov, UNDP project manager in Kyrgyzstan.

According to him, certification was one of the project’s key priorities, as entrepreneurs cited compliance with international standards and product quality as among the main barriers to entering foreign markets.

“If the export market is international, our products must meet the requirements of international standards,” Yusupov noted.

As part of the project, companies were also supported in implementing standards and requirements such as ISO 22000, HACCP, and GLOBALG.A.P.

The certification should make it easier for companies to access foreign markets and raise the bar for production processes and product quality.
In just four years, the UNDP and Ministry of Economy and Commerce project—funded by the Finnish government—supported 4,823 micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises. Of these, 3,162 were owned by women.

The value of the export contracts supported totaled $17.1 million. Additionally, the project created 837 new jobs, including 548 for women.
