MP claims problems with non-customs regulation on the border with Kazakhstan

Today, September 30, at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh Committee on International Affairs, MP Chyngyz Aidarbekov expressed concern about the situation on the border between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. According to him, entrepreneurs from Kyrgyzstan face serious obstacles at checkpoints.

The deputy noted that entrepreneurs complain about “non-customs regulation” that is not provided for by agreements within the EAEU. Local tax authorities detain trucks from Kyrgyzstan for several days or even a week, making various demands and obstructing passage.

“Drivers are often forced to pay significant sums. We are not talking about $100 here; the sums exceed $1,000,” he said.

The MP emphasized that the situation requires negotiations with the Kazakhstani side, as such cases have become more frequent despite the fraternal relations between the two countries. In addition, he noted that the scanners installed at the border are outdated and inefficient, which also creates additional difficulties for carriers.
