10/08/2025, 08:31Kyrgyzstan has officially launched the ‘Financing of United Commodity Producers’ project, which was supposed to be a breakthrough for agriculture. The announced total amount of lending is 2.2 billion soms, with Ayil Bank and Eldik Bank acting as operating banks.
However, the actual figures are much more modest. As of 25 September, only 12 joint farms across the country had received loans totalling 79.2 million soms. This means that only slightly more than 3.5% of the total amount has been utilised.
The project is designed for the long term, and the first recipients are pilot cooperatives that are supposed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the model. However, expectations for the programme were higher, judging by the total amount that the state has allocated for this project.
