04/06/2026, 13:14In January 2026, local government revenue in Kyrgyzstan rose sharply to 4.9 billion KGS. This is 1.6 billion KGS more than a year ago – an increase of 48.3%.
Expenditure also rose, but at a noticeably slower pace. Over the month, it reached 1.6 billion KGS, an increase of 32% compared with January last year.
The main source of revenue is taxes. These accounted for more than three-quarters of all revenue — 76.5%, or 3.8 billion KGS. Over the year, tax revenues rose by 37.6%.
The share of transfers — funds received from other budgets — also increased significantly. They amounted to 658.8 million KGS, or 13.4% of total revenue. By comparison, a year ago their share was almost 8 percentage points lower.
Revenue from the sale of non-financial assets remains insignificant — just 6.4 million KGS, or 0.1% of the total.
Overall, revenue growth is outpacing expenditure growth, which is building up a reserve of financial stability at the level of local budgets.
