EDB and RKDF launch development of Secondary Resources Market Development Program in Kyrgyzstan

Work has begun in Kyrgyzstan on creating a Secondary Material Resources Market Development Program, a document that will serve as the basis for implementing the principles of a closed-loop economy and green growth.

As part of the IV International Conference on Public-Private Partnerships, a trilateral agreement was signed between the Eurasian Development Bank, the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, and the Ministry of Natural Resources.

The initiative is being implemented with the support of the EDB Technical Assistance Fund and provides for grant financing of expert work on the preparation of the program. The document will combine business incentive mechanisms, a list of pilot projects, and solutions for optimizing waste processing logistics.

“For the Eurasian Development Bank, this project is a logical continuation of our work to promote sustainable development and a green economy. We see potential in turning waste processing into a source of investment and economic growth,” said Nurlan Akmatov, Director of the EDB Representative Office in Kyrgyzstan.

Artem Novikov, Chairman of the Board of the Kyrgyz Republic Fund for Recycling, emphasized that the project will become a tool for forming a new model of waste management in the country.

“The Ministry of Natural Resources will receive a ready-made tool for managing secondary resources, which will stimulate recycling, attract investment in environmental projects, and develop closed-loop economic sectors. This is an important step towards improving the efficiency of natural resource use and strengthening Kyrgyzstan's position in the implementation of the green agenda,” Novikov said.
