EEC gives green light to genomic breeding in the EAEU livestock sector

The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission considered the Review of international experience in the application of genomic selection in breeding livestock breeding.

In particular, the board considered possible approaches agreed within the Eurasian Economic Union on the introduction of genomic evaluation of farm animals.

It is specified that the introduction of genomic selection will allow, having formed a system of evaluation and forecasting of the breeding value of animals in the EAEU, to ensure sustainable development of livestock breeding and increase the economic efficiency of the industry.
