Aerated concrete blocks, tiles, glass and cables. What will be banned from import into Kyrgyzstan?

From 27 September, Kyrgyzstan is imposing a six-month ban on the import of certain building materials from third countries: blocks and bricks made of cement, concrete and artificial stone; ceramic tiles; certain types of glass; and electrical cables and wires.

The restriction applies, in particular, to lightweight concrete blocks, wall and floor tiles, sheet and polished glass, as well as cables with copper and aluminium conductors.

In January–July 2026, the main suppliers of these goods from countries outside the EAEU were Uzbekistan and China.
Imports from Uzbekistan totalled 92.9 thousand tonnes of cement, concrete and artificial stone products, whilst imports from China amounted to 8.2 thousand tonnes. Tile imports totalled approximately 2.4 million square metres from Uzbekistan and 1.74 million square metres from China.

China also supplied around 4.4 thousand tonnes of insulated wires and cables. A further 484 tonnes were imported from Turkey.

The ban does not apply to goods from EAEU countries, transit cargo, or supplies for strategic and investment projects, provided supporting documentation is available.

Consequently, the restrictions will primarily affect imports of building materials from Uzbekistan, China and other countries outside the EAEU.
