Prime Minister Akylbek Zhaparov Meets Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, Republic of Korea, Lee Cheol-woo

The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic, Akylbek Zhaparov, met with the Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, Republic of Korea, Lee Cheol-woo. The Prime Minister noted the growth in trade between Kyrgyzstan and Korea, which surpassed USD 1.1 billion in 2023. He expressed Kyrgyzstan's desire to continue developing cooperation, especially in economic and investment sectors. The Prime Minister emphasized that South Korea, with its advanced technologies and innovations, serves as a model for Kyrgyzstan in fields such as information technology, education, agriculture, and energy. He highlighted the significance of regional collaboration and praised the work of the Kyrgyz-Korean Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, the sixth meeting of which took place on August 12 this year in Bishkek. Akylbek Zhaparov invited Korean companies to invest in key sectors of the Kyrgyz economy, such as energy, renewable energy sources, mining and mineral development, infrastructure, and tourism. He also proposed the creation of joint ventures in strategic industries and the expansion of student exchange programs. In response, Governor Lee Cheol-woo expressed readiness to enhance bilateral cooperation and share expertise in priority areas for both countries. He particularly emphasized the importance of boosting cooperation in investment and tourism sectors. Additionally, he focused on student exchange programs and the implementation of "smart technologies" in agriculture.
