Kyrgyzstan's government debt in government bonds rose by 9 billion KGS in May

As of May 26, Kyrgyzstan’s domestic debt, held in government treasury bonds on the National Bank’s trading platform, reached 397.33 billion KGS. By comparison, as of April 30, there were 388.15 billion KGS worth of bonds in circulation. In other words, in less than a month, domestic debt in government securities increased by 9.18 billion KGS.

The main increase was in government securities with a 7-year maturity. The volume of such bonds increased from 64.05 billion to 68.56 billion KGS.

The volume of the following also increased:

  • 3-year bonds — from 81.8 billion KGS to 85.3 billion KGS;
  • 5-year bonds — from 35.95 billion KGS to 36.39 billion KGS;
  • 10-year bonds — from 56.13 billion KGS to 56.86 billion KGS.

At the same time, 15-year treasury bonds continue to account for the largest share of the domestic bond debt structure. Kyrgyzstan holds 139.4 billion KGS of domestic debt in these bonds, or over 35% of total domestic debt.

The volume of 20-year bonds remained unchanged at 10.78 billion KGS.

The growth in the volume of government bonds in circulation indicates that the government continues to actively raise funds in the domestic market through the issuance of debt securities.
