In January–February 2026, 2.25 million kg of nitrogen fertilisers were imported into the country — 59.4% of the figure for the same period last year. In monetary terms, imports amounted to around $3 million, an increase of 35.7%.
The main change is the rise in prices: whereas a year ago 1 kg cost an average of around $0.5, it now costs $1.3. Thus, the cost has increased by 160%.
Russia remains the key supplier — over 1.1 million kg, accounting for the lion’s share of the market. In second place is Uzbekistan with a volume of over 1 million kg, although its supplies have fallen by about a third. Kazakhstan has sharply reduced its exports – by more than 20 times.
Against this backdrop, China stands out: supplies have increased more than 4.5-fold, and in monetary terms – almost 7-fold.
