Foreign vehicles in Kyrgyzstan may be temporarily registered for a maximum of six months

The Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers has established a new procedure for the temporary registration of foreign vehicles: the registration period shall not exceed six months from the date of entry into the country. To restart the registration period, the vehicle must remain outside Kyrgyzstan for at least 30 calendar days without interruption.

Decree No. 688 was signed by the Prime Minister, Adylbek Kasymaliev, on 12 October 2026. This was reported in the newspaper ‘Erkin Too’.

Details of the vehicles will be entered into an electronic database. If the period of temporary registration expires and the vehicle has not been taken out of the country, the information will automatically be forwarded to the internal affairs authorities and the border service for appropriate action.

The new rules also provide for the electronic exchange of data between government bodies and replace the previous procedure, which was approved in May 2025.
