10/16/2024, 11:42During a meeting between the Head of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobayev and the Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Aidarbek Saparov, it became known that Kazakhstan intends to export wheat to the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to data for the first seven months of 2024, exports of pasta, wheat flour, sunflower oil and other goods from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan increased. Kyrgyzstan, in turn, increased supplies of mineral and aerated water, dairy and bakery products.
Aidarbek Saparov noted that agriculture is a strategic area for cooperation and stressed the need to increase the volume and range of mutual trade. Agreements were reached on the supply of Kazakh wheat to Kyrgyzstan, and flour millers were instructed to start working on this issue with representatives of the Prodkorporatsiya.
The Kyrgyz side expressed interest in importing mineral fertilisers and increasing export quotas for cattle and small-horned cattle.
Kazakhstan, in turn, is interested in importing early vegetables. There are also plans to intensify cooperation between research institutes and agrarian universities of the two countries, including the exchange of new varieties and hybrids of plants.
In 2023, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in this area totalled $299.4 million, of which $220.1 million was exported from Kazakhstan and $79.3 million was imported from Kyrgyzstan.
