Kazakhstan introduces temporary ban on oil product exports

The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan plans to ban petroleum product export from the county's territory for six months by motor transport.

This concerns diesel fuel and certain types of petroleum products. The ban applies to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states.
It is specified that the exception is lubricating oils and the fuel export in petrol tanks provided by the manufacturer.

This step is taken in the context of fuels and lubricants (POL) increasing consumption and their stocks reducing in the Kazakhstani domestic market. The government seeks to prevent shortages of fuels and lubricants and to combat ‘grey’ exports, which have caused concern among law enforcement agencies.

Thus, the new rule is aimed at ensuring domestic market stability and preventing the illegal export of oil products both to the EAEU countries and beyond.
