One in six new imported cars brought into Russia in April passed through Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan continues to be one of the key suppliers of new cars to the Russian market. According to data from the analytical agency Autostat, as of the end of April 2026, the republic ranked second among countries exporting new passenger cars to Russia.

According to the data presented, 34,300 new passenger cars were imported into Russia in April. China remains the absolute leader, accounting for 71.6% of shipments. Kyrgyzstan took second place with a 17.8% share, significantly ahead of Belarus (3%), Japan (2.8%), and South Korea (1.9%).

In fact, nearly one in six new imported cars brought into Russia in April passed through Kyrgyzstan.

Kyrgyzstan’s growing role comes amid the ongoing restructuring of the Russian auto market following the departure of some Western brands and changes in logistics chains. In recent years, Kyrgyzstan has become one of the most important transit and trade hubs for car shipments to Russia.

At the same time, Autostat data shows that the Russian market’s dependence on China remains extremely high. Overall, 72% of all new imported cars in Russia are now of Chinese origin.

Chinese brands also continue to dominate the Russian market. LADA remains the sales leader in April with 31,800 vehicles sold and a 27.1% market share. Among foreign brands, Haval recorded the highest sales—16,500 vehicles—followed by TENET (12,000), Geely (6,800), and Belgee (5,700 vehicles).

At the same time, some brands are demonstrating the highest growth. For example, Voyah’s sales grew more than 34-fold year-over-year, GAC’s by 56%, Belgee’s by 47%, and Jaecoo’s by 74%.

At the same time, demand for used cars remains high in Russia. In April, imports of used cars rose by 11% compared to last year, reaching 41,400 units. Japan leads this segment with a 59.9% share, while China accounts for 22.7% and South Korea for 7.7%. Kyrgyzstan’s share of the used car market was 0.6%.

The weighted average price of a new car in Russia reached 3.84 million KGS (3.36 million rubles) at the end of April—6% higher than a year earlier. Used cars cost an average of 1.38 million KGS (1.21 million rubles), which is also 6% higher than last year’s level.

Despite rising prices, the Russian auto market continues to show positive momentum. In April, sales of new passenger cars reached 117,500 units, which is 15% more than in the same period last year. Over the first four months of 2026, the market grew by 10%—to 382,500 cars.

Car financing remains an additional factor. In April, the number of loans for new cars rose by 21%, and in monetary terms—by as much as 48%. The used car segment also showed growth—up 19% in volume and 40% in the amount of funds disbursed.
