10/06/2025, 12:04China is confidently consolidating its status as Kyrgyzstan's main investor. By the end of 2024, China had invested $286.5 million in direct investments in the country, with the largest share going to the Chui region.
The Chui region became the main ‘magnet’ for Chinese capital, receiving $128.3 million, which is almost 69% of the total foreign direct investment in the region ($186.6 million). China invested $35.3 million in the capital, Bishkek, which is approximately one-fifteenth of all foreign investment in the city.
However, the true picture of China's presence can be seen in the regions. Here, the PRC is often not just the largest, but in fact the only serious investor.
At the same time, in the Issyk-Kul Region, Chinese investments amounted to $1.1 million, or about a third of all investments. In Talas, however, China's share is symbolic — only $400,000, or 0.37% of the total $107.2 million.
Thus, China has become the main source of direct investment for key regions of Kyrgyzstan. For some regions, its share is close to absolute.
