11/14/2024, 09:34On November 11, 2024, under the chairmanship of Iskender Asylkulov, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, the 20th meeting of the Subcommittee on Trade and Investment between the Kyrgyz Republic and the European Union was held.
The meeting discussed key issues and opportunities for the further development of bilateral relations in trade and investment. Both parties highlighted the significant potential for advancing cooperation, which may help strengthen economic ties. These meetings provide a unique opportunity to exchange information on the current economic situation and define future steps to realize the existing potential.
The Kyrgyz side presented information on ongoing economic reforms and further development plans for the country. Special attention was given to a new model of economic growth that shifts focus from traditional raw material exports, including agriculture and gold, to industrialization and production of goods and services with high added value. This transformation aims at the long-term sustainable development of the country's economy.
During the meeting, important issues were also discussed regarding the participation of the Kyrgyz Republic in the European Union's Generalized System of Preferences Plus (GSP+), the process of ratifying the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the European Union. Additionally, topics related to export control and cooperation in attracting investments from EU countries were discussed, with a particular focus on regional economic development.
