10/15/2025, 11:34As part of the 59th Annual Meeting of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, Finance Minister Almaz Baketaev met with Antonella Bassani, Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia.
The parties discussed key areas of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the World Bank, including the implementation of the Education for the Future project, which aims to expand access to quality preschool education.
Following the meeting, a financing agreement and a letter of grant technical assistance were signed for additional financing of the Education for the Future project in the amount of $6.36 million, including a World Bank loan of $4.36 million and a grant of $2 million. The funds will be used to renovate and equip kindergartens, as well as to optimise the use of premises in order to increase preschool education coverage.
In addition, the parties exchanged views on the distribution of resources of the International Development Association (IDA-21), improving the remuneration system for public sector employees, and promoting reforms aimed at developing human capital and digitalising the economy.
Minister Almaz Baketaev expressed his gratitude to the World Bank for its support of socio-economic reforms and emphasised Kyrgyzstan's readiness to further strengthen the partnership in the interests of sustainable development and improving the well-being of citizens.
