10/08/2026, 15:56Kyrgyzstan will draw up specific proposals on climate, water, glaciers and biodiversity for upcoming international conferences. This was stated by Erlist Akunbekov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, at the National Dialogue on Climate and Environmental Protection on 8 October.
According to him, Kyrgyzstan must participate in international events with a clear understanding of its national interests and promote the agenda of mountain countries.
Akunbekov noted that the condition of glaciers is directly linked to water resources, and that agriculture and the energy sector depend on the availability of water. The condition of land and pastures, in turn, affects food security and the incomes of rural families.
In the near future, international conferences on biodiversity will be held in Yerevan, and on climate change in Antalya. Furthermore, in 2027, Bishkek will host the Second Global Mountain Summit, ‘Bishkek+25’.
The event on 8 October is being held as part of Kyrgyzstan’s preparations for the international conferences on climate and biodiversity.
