07/29/2025, 16:50The Director of the National Investment Agency, Farkhat Iminov, held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Leslie Viger.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of the investment climate in Kyrgyzstan, as well as the potential for joint projects. Particular attention was paid to existing American investment initiatives in the country.
Specific examples of practical cooperation were discussed, including the implementation of the Makmal-Karakol project within the framework of the ‘project sandbox’ with the participation of the All American Rail Group Global Infrastructure Partner LLC consortium and the state-owned enterprise Kyrgyz Temir Zholu. The project is of strategic importance for strengthening the country's transit potential.
The Ambassador expressed interest in further developing the partnership and emphasised the importance of facilitating procedural issues related to doing business and implementing projects.
Special attention was paid to the digital economy and cryptocurrencies. It was noted that in 2022, Kyrgyzstan adopted the Law ‘On Virtual Assets,’ which regulates the cryptocurrency sector. By the end of 2024, the country's cryptocurrency turnover amounted to $7 billion. Kyrgyzstan is considered one of the leaders in Central Asia in the development of blockchain technology, mining, AI and digital assets.
The American side positively assessed the introduction of the digital som as one of the most innovative steps in the region, demonstrating Kyrgyzstan's commitment to digital transformation.
At the end of the meeting, the director of the National Agency noted that the agency acts as a link between business and the state and is ready to provide comprehensive support and assistance to American and other international partners in the implementation of investment projects in Kyrgyzstan.
