Kyrgyzstan updates aviation regulations to comply with ICAO standards

The State Agency for Civil Aviation has submitted for public discussion a draft update to the Aviation Regulations of the Kyrgyz Republic — ARKR-6, Part One, ‘Commercial Air Transport. Aircraft. Aircraft Operation.’ Consultations will continue until 25 September.

The aviation rules need to be updated to fix issues found during international aviation audits. It's also to make sure national regulations are in line with current ICAO standards and practices.

The document tightens up the rules for airlines, including:

  • aircraft maintenance according to modern standards;
  • expanded requirements for the training of flight and engineering personnel;
  • the use of emergency alert systems and improved flight recorders;
  • new rules for managing pilot fatigue;
  • enhanced fire safety and search and rescue measures.

The adoption of the rules should improve flight safety, strengthen the reputation of the national aviation industry and create conditions for Kyrgyzstan to be removed from the ‘black list’ of countries whose airlines are restricted from operating international flights.

Public discussion of the document will be the final stage before its approval and inclusion in the national regulatory system.
