Kyrgyzstan has discussed infrastructure development at the AIIB annual meeting

On 25-26 September 2023, the 9th Annual Governors' Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) was held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The main topic of discussion was the creation of sustainable infrastructure for the member countries.

The Kyrgyz delegation was led by Deputy Finance Minister Ruslan Tatikov, the interim acting governor of the AIIB on behalf of the country. During the event, Tatikov emphasized the importance of international cooperation in sustainable infrastructure development, especially against climate and economic challenges.

At the Business Governors' Roundtable, Tatikov called for strengthening regional efforts, emphasizing interregional projects such as the Kambarata hydropower plant and the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan rail route. These projects will help economic growth and infrastructure development not only in Kyrgyzstan but also in the entire Central Asian region, he said.

The Kyrgyz delegation also held several bilateral meetings with representatives of the European Investment Bank and AIIB management, including Zhongjing Wang, director general of the AIIB Center for Multilateral Cooperation on Development Finance, and Konstantin Limitovsky, AIIB vice president. These meetings discussed the prospects of megaprojects and the development of bilateral cooperation.
