Kyrgyzstan presented energy projects worth nearly $230 million in a single day

Kyrgyzstan presented a portfolio of energy projects with a capacity of up to 300 MW. These include solar and wind power stations and small hydropower plants.

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) announced the new investment plans. The presentation took place at the international congress ‘Hydropower: Central Asia and the Caspian’.

According to the Kyrgyzstan Public-Private Partnership Centre, the portfolio includes projects in the fields of renewable energy and hydropower.

In the Naryn region, there are plans to build a solar power station with a capacity of up to 150 MW. In the Batken and Talas regions, additional solar generation projects (Solar 2) are being considered.

Particular attention is being paid to small hydropower plants. Key projects include a plant on the dam of the Papansky Reservoir, with an investment of around $27 million, and the Chatkal hydropower cascade, costing approximately $200 million.

Wind farm projects with a capacity of 75 to 150 MW are also being developed in partnership with the Asian Development Bank and the Eurasian Development Bank.

Kyrgyzstan is actively developing ‘green’ energy against a backdrop of growing demand for electricity and a capacity shortage.
