Kyrgyzstan to Raise $50 Million for the Construction of a Spillway at the Kambarata HPP-2

Kyrgyzstan plans to raise $50 million from the Eurasian Stabilization and Development Fund for the construction of an additional surface spillway at the Kambarata HPP-2. The loan is for 20 years at 1% per annum, including a five-year grace period.

According to a Cabinet of Ministers resolution dated September 30, 2026, the project aims to improve the safety of the dam and the reliability of the hydroelectric complex’s operation. The additional spillway will increase the structures’ flow capacity and reduce the risk of accidents.

The funds are planned to be transferred to OJSC “Electric Power Plants” in the form of a loan. The Ministry of Energy has been designated as the entity responsible for implementing the agreement.

The agreement has been submitted to the Jogorku Kenesh for ratification.
