Kyrgyzstan hopes to sign a memorandum on the establishment of the SCO Bank at the summit in Bishkek

Kyrgyzstan has reaffirmed its support for the establishment of the SCO Development Bank. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Finance Nurbek Akzholov at a meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors from the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

According to him, the republic supports the creation of the SCO Development Bank as a fully-fledged multilateral financial institution.

Akzholov noted that the third consultative meeting on this issue took place in Bishkek on May 15, 2022. Kyrgyzstan expects that as early as the SCO summit in August 2026, heads of state will sign a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of the bank.

“This would be a historic achievement resulting from the organization’s many years of work,” he noted.

The Deputy Minister also emphasized that the development of financial cooperation within the SCO remains one of Kyrgyzstan’s priorities.
