Thus, Kyrgyzstan spends three times more on environmental protection than Armenia. However, if we compare 2024 with 2023, spending fell fourfold, from $515.8 million, and even surpassed Belarus ($347.8 million). Meanwhile, Armenia, on the contrary, increased its payments by $4.4 million by 2023.
To be fair, it should be said that 2023 in Kyrgyzstan was rather an exception. On average, the republic has spent $133 million on these purposes since 2015.
Environmental expenditures of the EAEU member states in 2024:
At the same time, according to data from the Eurasian Economic Commission, in 2024, Kyrgyzstan's per capita environmental protection costs amounted to $17.2, while in Armenia they were $13.2, in Kazakhstan — $36.8, Belarus – $39.1 million, and Russia – $46.5 million.
However, if we consider environmental expenditure in relation to gross domestic product, Kyrgyzstan ranks first with 0.71% of GDP. It is followed by Belarus (0.47%), Russia (0.31%), Kazakhstan (0.26%) and Armenia (0.15%).
