08/04/2025, 09:43Ministry of Water and Industrial Development is introducing a modern solution for farmers — a satellite monitoring system for agricultural land. The project is being implemented jointly with Azerbaijani satellite operator Azercosmos.
A pilot project was conducted in the Sokuluk district in 2024 using satellite images from 2023. The aim is to monitor the condition and growth of crops remotely, without the need for constant trips to the fields.
Based on the results of the pilot, it was decided to scale up the project to the whole of Kyrgyzstan from 2025. In the first half of the year, data was collected on five main crops: out of 2,057 samples, 1,443 were successfully selected, which is 70% of the plan.
This will provide farmers with accurate data on the condition of their fields, recommendations on agricultural techniques, and more sustainable farming in a changing climate.
“The next step is to expand the project to the whole country in 2025–2026,” the ministry said.
