Kyrgyzstan welcomes winter with full fuel reserves

Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobaev announced that all of the country's main energy resources—coal, gas, and fuel and lubricants—are ready for the autumn-winter period of 2025–2026.

According to Torobaev, preparations for winter have been completed in full.

  • Almost 995,000 tonnes of coal (96.6% of the plan) have been secured for the population, and more than 203,000 tonnes (89% of the plan) for budgetary organisations. Particular attention has been paid to social institutions. There are 720 coal depots in the country, 144 of which are social.
  • The Bishkek Thermal Power Plant has 280,000 tonnes of coal and 4,200 tonnes of fuel oil in storage, which exceeds last year's figures. The Osh Thermal Power Plant has been provided with 20,800 tonnes of fuel oil out of the 23,000 tonnes required.
  • Gasification is actively continuing: in 2025, 100 km of new gas pipelines were laid and 13,530 new consumers were connected. By the end of the year, gas will be supplied to new residential areas in Bishkek and the Chui region, with preferential loans provided for the population.
  • Fuel and lubricant reserves have stabilised; supplies are being provided from Belarus, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

Torobaev noted that the relevant authorities monitor fuel availability, quality and prices on a daily basis to ensure uninterrupted heating and electricity supply throughout the country.
