The increase in revenue was primarily due to growth in tourist traffic. In the organized tourism sector, 1.5 million people were accommodated in nine months, which is 1.5 times more than a year earlier. In the unorganized sector, the number of visitors reached 1.7 million, an increase of 30.8%.
During the period under review, 18,600 foreign citizens arrived in Kyrgyzstan through travel agencies, traveling around the country on organized itineraries.
The gross value added generated by the tourism sector amounted to 39.4 billion KGS, equivalent to 3.2% of GDP (compared to 3.1% a year earlier). Thus, tourism not only brings in foreign currency revenue, but also strengthens its contribution to economic growth.
