By comparison, in the same period of 2023, there were only 6,500 such payments totaling 31.8 million KGS. Thus, the growth was almost 453 times in terms of the number of transactions and 50 times in terms of volume.
According to the National Bank, QR payments are steadily gaining popularity in other areas as well. In total, 33.9 million transactions worth 51.5 billion KGS were made through the operator's system in the last quarter of 2024. This is 17.3 times more in terms of number and 26.4 times more in terms of volume than in the same period a year earlier.
The expansion of the number of participants in the system has contributed significantly to the growth in popularity of QR payments. While in 2023 there were 20 banks and only 5 operators, by the end of 2024 there were already 12 payment organizations and 20 banks. The infrastructure has also grown significantly, with the number of QR codes installed in retail and service enterprises increasing 1.6 times, from 38,900 to 62,800 nationwide.
