The company, founded in 2012, specialized in the extraction of uranium and thorium ore. Its founders were Chinese citizen Xi Zhenfeng and Kyrgyz citizen Sofya Baitikova. The company was located in the village of Novovoznesenka, Ak-Suu district.
Shun Tai's closure comes amid the lifting of a moratorium on uranium mining. The president signed the relevant law back in June last year. However, uranium mining remains a sensitive issue.
In addition to Shun Tai, nine other companies are registered in Kyrgyzstan. Three of these companies — Alatoo Mineral Resources LLC, Idiken LLC, and Mate LLC — were established in 2024.
