08/12/2026, 13:35The Mayor of Osh, Zhanarbek Akayev, received the Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Osh, Liu Minche, and congratulated him on his appointment to his new post, as well as on the resumption of the Consulate-General’s activities.
During the meeting, they discussed the further development of Kyrgyz-Chinese relations, including inter-regional cooperation. The parties paid particular attention to expanding cooperation in the areas of trade and the economy, investment, transport and logistics, and tourism.
Mayor Zhanarbek Akayev noted the growing interest of Chinese investors in the city of Osh and proposed holding business forums, exhibitions and bilateral meetings. He stated that Osh City Council was ready to create favourable conditions for investors and to facilitate the implementation of joint projects. At the same time, the mayor emphasised the need to comply with Kyrgyz legislation and respect social norms.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to take Kyrgyz-Chinese inter-regional cooperation to a new level and to implement mutually beneficial projects.
The city of Osh has established sister-city relationships and close ties with the Chinese cities of Urumqi, Xi’an, Xining, Shijiazhuang, Lanzhou, Foshan, Dalian and Kashgar.
