Companies in Kyrgyzstan owe 1.5 trillion KGS. The bulk of this amount is owed to Bishkek

By the end of 2025, the amount owed to Kyrgyzstan’s businesses had reached 1 trillion 502.5 billion KGS. Over the course of the year, it more than doubled—by 820.8 billion KGS—according to data from the National Statistics Committee.

Companies in the capital are owed the most money. They are owed nearly 1 trillion 249 billion KGS. This accounts for more than 83% of the country’s total accounts receivable. Bishkek also accounted for the bulk of the annual increase—726.3 billion KGS, or nearly 89%.

The debt grew the fastest in the financial intermediation sector, including transactions involving virtual assets. Over the year, the amount increased by 432.5 billion KGS. Next are construction (189.1 billion KGS) and trade, along with the repair of automobiles and motorcycles (115.1 billion KGS).

Of the total amount, 12 billion KGS—0.8% of total debt—is in arrears. More than half of this arrears, 6.2 billion KGS, is attributable to transportation and freight storage.

Most of these transactions take place within Kyrgyzstan. They account for 1 trillion 311 billion KGS, or 87.3% of the total debt. Compared to 2021, the amount owed to the country’s enterprises has increased 6.7-fold.

There is also the flip side of these transactions—the enterprises’ own debts to suppliers and other creditors. Their accounts payable totaled 1 trillion 422.5 billion KGS by the end of 2025.
