Kyrgyzstan on track to reach $3,000 GDP per capita: priority given to human capital development at Doha summit

Kyrgyzstan has identified human capital development as a key area of state policy, confirming its commitment to the principles of the Doha Political Declaration.

Speaking at the plenary debate of the Second World Summit on Social Development under the auspices of the UN, Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov emphasised that the country is focusing on education, healthcare and social protection as the basis for long-term growth.

According to him, during the years of President Sadyr Zhaparov's leadership, Kyrgyzstan has demonstrated remarkable economic progress — GDP per capita has almost tripled and is projected to reach about $3,000 by the end of 2025.

During the summit, the representative of the Kyrgyz delegation held a series of meetings with high-ranking participants, including UN Deputy Secretary-General Li Zhonghua, UNICEF Deputy Executive Director Omar Abdi, and representatives of UNDP, Brazil, Iran, Qatar and Mozambique.

The parties discussed deepening cooperation in the fields of education, health, ecology and social policy, as well as exchanging successful practices in the field of social inclusion.

Kyrgyzstan also organised a side event entitled ‘Investing in Human Capital: Programmes and Successful Practices,’ which presented reforms in education and healthcare aimed at increasing the country's competitiveness and the well-being of its population.

Edil Baysalov also co-chaired a round table with Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović, where he presented Kyrgyzstan's vision in the context of strengthening the three pillars of social policy: poverty eradication, decent work and social justice.
