10/09/2025, 16:27Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev met with Gazprom Chairman Alexei Miller at the 14th International Gas Forum in St. Petersburg. The main topics of discussion were Russian gas supplies and preparations for the autumn-winter period.
Ibraev proposed increasing annual funding for gasification projects in the country by at least 1.5 billion KGS.
According to the minister, these funds are necessary to accelerate the connection of new settlements and the development of fuel storage infrastructure. Gazprom Kyrgyzstan, a subsidiary of the Russian holding company, is currently the exclusive importer of gas to the republic and the owner of the national gas transportation system.
The minister stressed that additional funding should go hand in hand with maintaining stable gas prices for the population and businesses, which is especially important in the context of the upcoming heating season.
The parties also discussed increasing gas supplies to Kyrgyzstan and agreed on measures to improve the reliability of gas supplies in winter.
It should be added that in recent years, Bishkek has been actively focusing on gasification as a way to improve the environmental situation and reduce dependence on coal, the price of which is already regulated by the state in the country. However, without additional investment from Gazprom, the process may slow down.
