04/17/2026, 14:36Today, 17 April, an international tourist train operated by the British company GOLDEN EAGLE TRAINS arrived in Bishkek from Balykchy. The train carried tourists from Western Europe, North America and East Asia.
The state-owned enterprise ‘National Company ‘Kyrgyz Temir Zholu’, in conjunction with the Bishkek City Council’s Department of Culture, gave the guests a ceremonial welcome. An exhibition of folk crafts was organised at the railway station, where tourists could see shyrdaks, felt products and traditional household items of the Kyrgyz people. For the guests, this was not merely an opportunity to browse souvenirs, but a chance to gain a deeper understanding of Kyrgyz culture.
A special atmosphere was created by a performance from the ‘Door’ folk ensemble, who performed traditional musical pieces.
Following the ceremonial welcome, the tourists set off on a sightseeing tour of Bishkek, where they will learn about the city’s history, architecture and modern urban life.
The tourists’ journey through Kyrgyzstan began the day before, on 16 April. A special programme was organised for them in the Issyk-Kul region, including walks along the lake shore and an introduction to the nature and cultural traditions of the Kyrgyz people.
The tourist train consists of 17 modern, comfortable carriages. In total, more than 90 tourists arrived in the country.
The state-owned enterprise ‘Kyrgyz Temir Zholu’ ensures strict adherence to the train’s timetable and creates all the necessary conditions for a safe and comfortable stay for foreign guests in the country.
