Inter-regional migration remains the main migration flow in Kyrgyzstan

In 2025, the entire net migration gain within Kyrgyzstan was accounted for by Bishkek and Osh. The capital accounted for 86.5 per cent of the gain, whilst Osh accounted for 13.5 per cent.

Internal migration remains the main component of migration processes in the country’s regions. At the same time, inter-regional population movements continue to dominate its structure.

Overall, the demographic situation in Kyrgyzstan is characterised by steady natural population growth and a positive net external migration balance. The high birth rate ensures extended population replacement.
